The Pirateglide

Mike’s bike is going to be the cats meow. Savvy? This bike is an artists dream, we are going full out with a complete disassembly and color on about every part we can, frame, wheels, inner fairing, bars etc. The pirate theme!

Mike will also be using a set of True Kustom “Arm Bars” which provide a far more comfortable/relaxed ride position than traditional bars.

Here is the final product. Getting detailed for delivery tomorrow morning!

Some work done, This is the rear wheel painted to look like ocean floor. Gonna be killer with the whole theme.

Starting at the bottom of the bike and moving up, here is work on the base of the frame to match the wheel art. As we move into the wrest of the bike we will fill in the water details and color. More sand and animals.

One of the coolest ideas yet is to fill the inside of the front fairing with a ship graveyard. First step is to use the reference imagery to get a base layout of scale and shapes.

Now this is where all the fun begins. laying in all the base shade work “under painting” where color will be added later.

A practice piece Terry put together as and example of the under painting technique.

The front fender is next. The scene from movie one with the dead pirates walking under water was so cool that we decided to run with that on the front fender.

The tank artwork was a task but we got it figured out. THE KRACKEN!

BLACKBEARD!!!! Out before the new movie.

The big piece on the bike is the rear end. With the True Kustom Heavyweight bags and a fender cover we have a great canvas to work on. And what a great piece to put on the back of the bike, a classic battle and a whirlpool. Terry is doin a KILLER job on this.

OK, so the rear of the bike is mostly finished, now lets start around those great big saddlebags. Seems like we need a picture of Captain Jack and we found a good one.

First is the primary layout using a black and white print to scale with some strategic cut out to give us location of detail.

Then the fun part, hand airbrushing all the details.

Ok. Now for the fun stuff. The base artwork is laid out but now its time to make it all fit together. So I mocked up the frame and rear end and began laying color on the fame and attached parts.
